Easy Skincare Routine For Dehydrated Skin

An easy skincare routine for dehydrated skin focuses on gentle, hydrating products that replenish moisture and strengthen the skin’s barrier. Start with a mild, non-stripping cleanser, followed by a hydrating serum to draw in moisture and a nourishing moisturizer to lock it in. In the morning, always finish with an SPF of 30+ to protect against dehydration from sun exposure. Try to avoid harsh exfoliants and drink plenty of water to support hydration from within. Don’t forget, consistency is key to restoring a healthy glow.

What is dehydrated skin and what does it look like?

Dehydrated skin lacks water, not oil, and can affect any skin type, including oily or combination skin. It often appears dull, tight or rough, with more pronounced fine lines and increased sensitivity. Unlike dry skin, which is a skin type, dehydration is a temporary condition caused by factors like weather, diet and overuse or unsuitable skincare. Signs include flakiness, irritation and a tight feeling, especially after cleansing. Dehydrated skin may also produce excess oil to compensate for moisture loss, leading to breakouts.

What is the difference between dry & dehydrated skin?

Dry and dehydrated skin are often confused, but they are different concerns.

  • Dry skin is a skin type and lacks oil (sebum). It often feels rough, flaky, and tight, and may be prone to irritation.
  • Dehydrated skin, on the other hand, is a temporary condition caused by a lack of water and can affect any skin type, including oily or combination skin. Understanding the difference helps you choose the right skincare approach for you, to dive deeper into these differences you can find a more in-depth look at the differences here: Dry vs Dehydrated Skin

Skincare routine for dehydrated skin

The key to restoring hydration is using gentle, moisture-boosting products that replenish water levels and strengthen the skin’s barrier. Here's an easy four-step routine that will leave your skin feeling hydrated, glowing and healthy.

Step 1: Oat Cleansing Balm

Start your routine with our Oat Cleansing Balm – a gentle yet powerful cleanser that removes impurities, makeup, and SPF without stripping moisture. Infused with Oat Kernel Oil, rich in ceramides and omega 3 & 6, it melts away buildup while Colloidal Oatmeal soothes dryness, sensitivity, and redness for soft, comfortable skin.

How to use: Apply a raspberry-sized amount, gently massage into dry skin. Add a splash of warm water to emulsify and continue to work into skin then rinse thoroughly.

Step 2: Ectoin Hydro-Barrier Serum

After cleansing, it’s time to deeply hydrate and protect your skin’s barrier with the powerhouse that is our Ectoin Hydro-Barrier Serum. In just 15 minutes, 2% Ectoin helps to reduce water loss and shields the skin from environmental aggressors like pollution while a 1% Barrier Blend of ceramides strengthens and protects the skins barrier – enhancing its resilience, smoothness and bounce!

How to use: Apply a pea-sized amount to your face and neck while your skin is still damp from cleansing.

Step 3: Bio-Active Ceramide Moisturiser

Now you’ve pulled hydration into the skin, it’s time to lock it in. Our Bio-Active Moisturiser is perfect for dehydrated skin as it strengthens the skin’s barrier and prevents moisture loss while improving elasticity and hydration levels over time.

How to use: Gently apply a blueberry-sized amount onto your face and neck, after applying your serums.

Step 4: Dewy Sunscreen SPF30

Sun protection is crucial for all skin types, but dehydrated skin can become even more sensitive under UV exposure. Our Dewy Sunscreen SPF30 offers broad-spectrum protection while keeping your skin hydrated and glowing.

How to use: Apply liberally as the final step in your morning routine. Reapply frequently (every 2 hours), particularly if perspiring, swimming or toweling.

There you have it, a simple and effective routine for dehydrated skin. Now you can give your skin the hydration it craves – restoring its plumpness, glow and strength. With the right care, you’ll not only feel the difference but see your skin thrive like never before.
