Common causes include over-exfoliation, using harsh products, environmental factors (cold weather, low humidity), stress, lack of sleep, and certain medical conditions. Even well-intentioned skincare routines can sometimes disrupt the barrier if products are too strong or used too frequently.
With consistent use of barrier-repair products, you may notice improvements in 2-4 weeks. However, complete barrier restoration typically takes 6-12 weeks. The key is gentle, consistent care with products containing ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide - all found in our barrier repair collection.
